Refugee Employment Social Services  

Refugee Employment Social Services (RESS) program will have three components. They are intensive case management, employment referral services and social services, including services for youth and elderly adults. 

All program participants are evaluated to determine employment-readiness status. Employment-ready refugees are referred to employment service agencies or private employers to find and begin a job Non-employment-ready refugees are referred to the appropriate workshops, skills training, language training, transportation or childcare provider to overcome their  individual barrier to employment. As barriers are overcome and refugees become  employment-ready, they are referred to employment service agencies as indicated above.  

      Social Services:

·        Translation and Interpretation

·        Referral to Social Service agencies, employment service agencies, training, and education providers.

·        Assistance is obtaining INS documents, Social Security number and benefits, Medicare, food stamps, cash aid and other available and needed assistance.

·        Help in finding and obtaining safe and affordable housing.

·        Initiate, coordinate and distribute community donations of food, clothing, household goods and furniture to newly arrived refugees.

·        Assist refugees at DMV, and assist them in accessing public transportation.

·        Provide emergency transportation to medical clinics, doctors’ offices and hospitals.

·        Referrals to counseling, mental health and other related services.
